This is the first of two update I will do on the Bobcat Women’s team recruits

With Bobcat women’s recruits finishing up their high school ball I thought I might do an update on their seasons. Of the 5 fall signies and the one spring commit 4 of them played in their respective state championship game – 2 State champions 2 runner ups. All 6 teams played in their states championship tournament and two of their teams were ranked in the USA Today top 25 teams at least once this season.

Latisha Adams had an outstanding year with West Mesa high school in New Mexico. She averaged 19 points, 9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2 blocks, 4.5 steals, 2 blocks, 45% fg, 37% 3fg, 70%ft. and has been rated as the top guard prospected by some publication out of New Mexico. Addams (5’-9”) is an athletic shooting guard who can also play the small forward spot. Addams has the ability to put points on the board in a big hurry, and has the potential to be a big time scorer for the Cats, but is also a very scrappy defender. She may end up being one of the top recruits Binford has signed, but still may have a hard time getting minutes next year because the Cats will be loaded at the 2 and 3, with Bussie, Seidensticker, Heringer, all returning next year and Janette Jackson coming off a redshirt transfer year.

Ally Schmitt played for Snohomish high school Washington. Snohomish was ranked briefly in the USA Today Top 25 high school teams this year. Snohomish has 3 seniors who have signed to play D-1 ball next year, and a junior who will also play D-1 ball in a few years. Schmitt is a pure point who averaged 9 points 5.5 assists per game. ESPN / Gurlz Hoops have given her a 76 rating and rank her as the #54 point guard in the class of 2009. This year she came off a knee injury that kept her out of basketball her junior year and looks really strong. She can score in buckets when she needs to, is content to get run the team. I could see her playing some as a freshman as a back up to Perry.

Kelsey Roben is a 5-11 guard forward from Denver’s Regis Jesuit High School. Roben blew out her knee in the first game of the season and has not played this year. She is an outstanding three point shooter, but can also take the ball to the hoop. Regis is a power in Colorado, and the nation, having spent the entire season in The USA top 25. Like Addams could have trouble finding minutes her freshman year, and could be a prime candidate for a redshirt year.

Part two will feature the forwards and center, Albert, Banis, and Semansky, the Montana Big Girls
